Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller (July 8, 1908 – January 26, 1979) was an American businessman and politician who served as the 41st vice president of the United States from 1974 to 1977, and previously as the 49th governor of New York from 1959 to 1973. He also served as assistant secretary of State for American Republic Affairs for Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Ronald Harold Nessen was born on May 25, 1934 in Washington, D.C. From 1952 to 1954, he was a student at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, West Virginia and a radio newscaster for WEPM in Martinsburg, West Virginia. From 1954 to 1955 he was a radio newscaster for WARL in Arlington, Virginia, and from 1955 to 1956 he was a writer for the Montgomery County Sentinel in Rockville, Maryland.
